Description
Pacific Car & Foundry delivered 40 of the 7633 cubic foot appliance boxcars to the Milwaukee Road on March 1975. They were numbered from 4213 to 4252. Many of the delivered cars had an applied return stencil that read "When empty return to agent Penn Central RR Moraine, Ohio". Some cars would go on to have the return stencil edited for new assignments at the Hotpoint Company in Milwaukee, WI. Others would have the stencil painted over and some wore the original for many years. After the end of the Milwaukee Road, many of the cars went to the Canadian Pacific and some were repainted, however most stayed in their as-delivered paint during their lifetime. We have been told that some were still seen on the rails not long ago.
